It is used in patients receiving organ transplants (such as kidney, heart, or liver transplants). This drug helps prevent organ rejection from the body. Generic daclizumab injections are not yet available. What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine? (Back to top) They need to know if you have any of these conditions: •infection •an unusual or allergic reaction to daclizumab, mouse proteins, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives •pregnant or trying to get pregnant •breast-feeding How should I use this medicine? (Back to top) Daclizumab is for injection into a vein. It is given by a health-care professional in a hospital or clinic setting. What if I miss a dose? (Back to top) It is important not to miss a dose. Let your prescriber or health care professional know if you are unable to keep an appointment. What drug(s) may interact with daclizumab? (Back to top) •vaccines Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines. Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines. What side effects may I notice from receiving daclizumab? (Back to top) Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible: •difficulty breathing •chest pain •increased urination •increased thirst •fever or chills •skin rash, hives, or itching •swelling of the feet or lower legs Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome): •acne •back pain •constipation •diarrhea •difficulty sleeping •dizziness •fatigue •headache •heartburn •hemorrhoids •gas •muscle aches •nausea •sweating, night sweats •slow wound healing What should I watch for while taking daclizumab? (Back to top) Visit your prescriber or health care professional for regular checks on your progress. You should always carry an identification card that includes your name and your prescriber's name and address. Your blood sugar may increase during use of daclizumab. Ask your prescriber or health care professional for advice if you are diabetic and notice a change in your blood sugar level. Females of child-bearing age should use effective birth control during treatment with daclizumab and for at least 4 months after stopping daclizumab therapy. Discuss birth control options with your health care provider. Do not have any vaccinations without your prescriber's approval, because daclizumab may lower your body's ability to respond to the vaccine. You may be at increased risk to develop an infection. Try to avoid contact with people who have colds or other infections. Tell your prescriber or health care professional if you think you are getting a cold or other infection. If you are going to have surgery within the next 12 months, tell your prescriber or health care professional that you have received daclizumab. Where can I keep my medicine?
